Rock me momma like a wagon wheel
Rock me momma any way you feel
Hey, momma rock me
Rock me momma like the wind and the rain
Rock me momma like a southbound train

My stay at home so far has consisted of folk music, playing guitar, spending time with my parents and best friend, so much homemade food it doesn't seem possible, and Nelson Mandela's "A Long Walk to Freedom." My heart is so content.

Home.

It's nice to be home for a few days... I went on a walk with my mom.. she likes stealing wild grapevines and creeping around old barns. haha.

This quarter has been really draining... I feel like I'm recharging now. Driving home gave me such a sweet sense of release... ahhh, to let go.

Pretty things.

Tripsichore Yoga Theatre.

I shot the Tripsichore Yoga Theatre's performance in Athens, Ohio a few weeks ago- they're such a beautiful group. Seeing a group of people who are so in touch with their spirituality and so in control of their mind and body was absolutely inspiring... and the performance was breathtaking. If anyone ever gets a chance to see them perform, I recommend it.

Life is a Circus.

and we're hiding in the shadows that glow.

Oh, New York.

I took a road trip with a few lovely girlfriends to New York City a couple of weekends ago. I wandered around for a few hours, talking to the random people I met- The lady in purple was BY FAR my favorite. She was raised in Germany and now lives in Spain- she and her friend (in the background) travel to nyc once a year and boogy down. She was the purplest thing I've ever seen.... Purple hair, coat, clothes, shoes, mascara.. everything. She was fantastic.

Sigh... what a nice weekend. Beautiful weather, beautiful drive with beautiful music and beautiful friends. My heart was so content, it could barely take it.

ballerinas

I shot a ballet class earlier in the quarter- it was all 11 to 14 year olds. I found their awkward grace so charming and beautiful. The pictures are really lacking, but it was a blast to watch these young girls learn one of the most graceful forms of movement at their most awkward age.

Between here and there.

some pictures from the drive between athens and home. it feels good to drive away from the campus.. sometimes I feel like athens is the Bermuda Triangle... sucking me back somehow, every time I try to escape. ha.

Hello PA

Spent last weekend in Pennsylvania.. It was nice to be back to the cabin. So many of my favorite memories took place there... sledding in the backyard (aka getting plowed over by my lovely sisters), adventures in the woods, picking berries with grandpa, driving up to Red House Hill at dusk and spotting all the creatures coming out to play, laughing at grandpap being his stubborn old self, admiring grandma and her embrace, campfires... I could go on for a very long time.

It's amazing how fast time goes by... A decade doesn't seem like all too long ago, but still a lifetime has happened since 1997. The material objects of childhood have all faded.. the cabin is getting older.. I'm only twenty and wake up with pain in my back (ha). Today is the first day of the rest of my life. And tomorrow. and then the next day.
